Cala D’Or; Mallorca Project Vibes

Ahead of our holiday to Mallorca, I did my usual research on the area and found the popular hotspots on the food and drink scene using Instagram. With a number of fabulous looking restaurants and bars with great reviews in the town and marina, we were spoilt for choice.

On our first trip into town to do a spot of shopping and explore the area, we stopped off at this super chic cafe/bar called Noir.

I had planned to order a coffee to pick me up after all the shopping, but with it being a Friday arvo I couldn’t resist a cheeky Espresso Martini… and when you’re on holiday cocktails are a given, right!?

With such stylish, tasteful interiors and old school tunes playing from the bar, Noir was the perfect little spot to sit out in the sunshine and soak up the Spanish town atmosphere.

The town of Cala D’Or was a different picture by night, as the quiet streets we’d walked by day came alive and the bars packed out with locals and tourists alike.

I had on my list to tryout this vibrant bar Lola. With its Bali inspired beach style interiors and live DJ playing every night until the early hours, this was just my vibe for a cocktail date with the boyfriend.

As the drinks kept flowing and even the shots lined up too, soon we found ourselves at Club Tiempo for a drunken dance before we called it a night.

On a more civilised evening out, we went for a scenic date night at the Marina.

We found a lovely restaurant overlooking the harbour where we enjoyed a delicious dinner for two.

I couldn’t come to Spain and not have a traditional seafood paella and this didn’t disappoint, it was absolutely divine and just the refuel I needed following a day out on the water swimming and cliff jumping.

My boyfriend had a gorgeous cut of fillet steak with dauphinoise potatoes and we shared a salad too. Simple food done well, delicious!

There were lots of other places in town which we didn’t get time to visit, but I’m sure we’ll be back again soon as we loved the beautiful town of Cala D’Or. What I came to realise was these trendy cafes, bars and restaurants including Noir, Lola and Restaurant Different were all linked via an Instagram account called Mallorca Projects. They are a collective of openminded people promoting their passion for that dreamy life in a small Spanish town on the golden coast.

Having now visited these places myself I can see the attraction and why they have such a big following. Mallorca Projects is an awesome, eclectic vibe of lifestyle art and I’m here for it ❤

Kettner’s Soho House; Guestlist Only

The famous Soho House collection has a number of stunning locations across London open exclusively to members only. So when my Aussie Auntie and Uncle announced they were throwing a private party at Kettner’s Studio, I was thrilled to finally get a look inside one of the Soho House London city hangouts for myself.

We got the train into London Waterloo followed by a quick tube over to Leicester Square and a short walk to Kettner’s located in Soho. London was buzzing on a Thursday night; I just love soaking up the bustling atmosphere of the city on a warm summer’s evening.

Arriving at 6:30pm, we were greeted by the family with a welcoming glass of champagne which continued to flow all night of course. It was a very special occasion in celebration of the Australian crew in town only for that one week.

We had our own private room with this feature bar exclusively for our party. I was obsessed with these exquisite champagne coupes, the only way proper champagne should be served.

They had selected three cocktails to choose from: a spicy margarita, a cucumber tonic with gin or vodka, or the Soho House special ginger flavoured concoction made with tequila. At this point I was double parked, so I thank my boyfriend who ordered me a diet coke at this point to break up all the alcohol!

Soon the canapés came out and later on some more substantial bowl food. I wasn’t too impressed with the food to be honest, but something was better than nothing to soak up all the champagne.

I actually didn’t get many photos of the evening as I was just enjoying every second with my international family whose time with us is so precious. Nothing like a few blurry group pics for the memories though.

We caught the last train home just before midnight which was super busy too. I had the most wonderful evening with my awesome family in the most idyllic surroundings of Kettner’s beautiful champagne bar. These are the moments I will cherish forever – Love you family ❤

Parisian Style; My Weekend in Outfits

Parisian street fashion is famous for its simple yet chic approach to dressing. Sleek silhouettes and effortless basics paired with one or two statement pieces, is the fuss-free formula for that timeless French style.

For our first day strolling the streets of Paris, I wore a pair of classic white skinny jeans from Topshop, a puff sleeve floral red blouse from Abercrombie & Fitch and plaited jackfruit ASOS sliders, accessorised with a subtle pearl anklet and a white beret of course.

Saturday evening we headed to the Moulin Rouge so I dressed for the occasion in my over the knee boots, white Zara skirt-shorts, black Zara ruffle strap square-neck crop and gingham baker boy. So cliche but such a vibe for the Moulin Rouge, c’est bon!

For another day exploring Paris, I opted for comfort with my Grenson boots, camel flare smart trousers from H&M, striped bandeau and statement tortoiseshell cat eye sunnies. Blue and white stripes are such a French classic and paired perfectly with that polished camel tone, il est parfait!

Sundown drinks before dinner we headed down to our hotel courtyard for a charcuterie and vino. I wore my H&M camel flare trousers again, white bone corset bandeau and vintage Prada heels, complete with a cute silk neck scarf to finish that feminine French look.

On our final night in Paris we had to experience the Eiffel Tower lit up by night, so we headed into the centre of the city for dinner. I felt tres chic in my oversized vintage Jaeger green blazer to keep off that evening breeze.

I just love dressing up and embracing the style of the city I am visiting by taking inspiration from the locals themselves. Paris still stands to this day as one of the most classy, chicest fashion capitals of the world…tres tres chic ❤

48 Hours in P A R I S

Paris; A beautiful city full of charm, elegance, history, art, architecture, fashion, food, nightlife and of course, LOVE. This weekend me and my boyfriend spent two days exploring this magnificent European city for ourselves. With only 48 hours in town, we didn’t waste a minute and managed to cover most of the most famous hotspots whilst sampling the best of French cuisine and soaking up the glorious early summer sunshine.

Taking the Eurostar from St Pancras on Friday evening, we found ourselves in the centre of Paris within a matter of a few hours. Having booked through the Eurostar with hotel combo deal, we checked into our lovely 4* boutique Hotel Mademoiselle, only a 5 minute walk from Gare du Norde train station.

Waking up fresh from a good nights sleep following our journey, Saturday morning we strolled the streets of the local area and grabbed a quick breakfast at a cute corner cafe.

We then headed straight for the Eiffel Tower where we found this famous side street Rue de l’Universite for that picture perfect photo.

A quick whip around the supermarche and we had ourselves a throw together French style picnic by the river overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

From there, we walked to the Champs-Elysees for an afternoon browsing the shops before we reached the Arc de Triomphe.

Following the madness of the tourist spots on a Saturday afternoon, we stopped by Cafe De Paris for an early evening drink in the sunshine and much needed rest from our feet.

A quick stop back at the hotel to freshen up and we were ready for a night out in Paris. Destination Moulin Rouge, an iconic landmark I had to visit during our stay and only a 10 minute Uber from our hotel.

This area was buzzing on a Saturday night, so we found a local brasserie where we could sit out on the street with our dinner and soak up the those Parisian nightlife vibes. Our night continued into the early hours with cocktails and a traditional Nutella crepe for desert at 2am!

Sunday late morning, we made our way over to Le Recrutement Cafe for brunch with a view of the Eiffel Tower.

We then decided to spend the afternoon on a hop-on and hop-off bus tour around the city, a super easy way to navigate all of the tourist spots in one day.

The Louvre was a highlight with its stunning modern architecture juxtapose to the grandeur of the surrounding historic buildings.

Back at our hotel that evening, we enjoyed sundown drinks with an exquisite charcuterie board amongst the gorgeous French aesthetic of their courtyard at Hotel Mademoiselle.

We had to see the Eiffel Tower by night, so for dinner we went back to the river for a delicious Italian at Firmine.

The light show is on the hour every hour until midnight, so we had cocktails at the nearby Frame Brasserie from where we had views of the Eiffel Tower.

For the final light display at midnight, we had front row seats in the park for undisrupted views of this incredible spectacle. It felt like a dream seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle by night, showering the city in golden hues; simply divine and tres romantique.

Before we new it, Monday morning rolled around and it was time to hop back on the Eurostar to London. This was a whistle stop tour but we certainly made the most of our time here and emersed ourselves within the Parisian culture. I have fallen in love with the vibe of this exciting city with its chic style and vibrant charm; we will be seeing you again soon Paris, merci beaucoup ❤

Dubai Diaries; Barmy Beach Club Blues

When it comes to beach clubs in Dubai, you really are spoilt for choice. From the glamorous and Insta famous complex at Drift on The Palm, to the fun party til dawn vibes at BlaBla in Dubai Marina, there is a destination for every occasion.

One of my favourite spots was KoKo Bay beach club at the foot of The Palm on Jumeirah beach. We spent a whole afternoon here sunning ourselves until golden hour.

For just 150AED (£30) per sun bed which was redeemable on food and drink, we had the most perfect spot to enjoy all day long.

We went for a stroll down the beach as we took in those magnificent sweeping views of the Dubai Marina skyline. Just along from here was in fact the renowned beach club Five, however the laid back chilled vibes at KoKo were more our scene for a Wednesday arvo.

Cocktails at noon on holiday are a must, so I got started with a refreshing rum and pineapple concoction.

Later in the arvo we ordered some food and another round of cocktails. With such an extensive menu of seafood, sushi, poke bowls and curries, I opted for the bean chilli loaded nachos which made for the perfect beach nibble.

My boyfriend chose the Chinese Kung Po chicken which he admitted was the best he’d ever had of his favourite dish. Colourful cocktails, yummy food and a beautiful sunset, what more could you want!?

I would highly recommend KoKo Bay for its casual chic atmosphere combined with delicious food, amongst the most awesome beach setting overlooking one of the best views in Dubai.

My other personal favourite beach club was Ula at Dukes Hotel on The Palm. We visited here twice, once in the evening for dinner and again on our final day to lap up the sunshine.

With it’s Bali inspired interiors featuring gorgeous hanging lampshades, Ula strikes the perfect balance of tasteful decor to create a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere for a wonderful evening supper setting.

I had to come back to experience this gorgeous oasis in the daytime too. Those Bali vibes continue down to the beach bar with fantastic tall teepee loungers and cute cabanas.

Seeing the main feature bar area with that spectacular tree in the middle was even more glorious by day with the shadows casting patterns through the bamboo awning.

From their mediterranean inspired menu, we ordered a light lunch which we ate down at the beach bar amongst the palm trees overlooking Dubai Eye and the Marina. I had a simple but tasty house salad whilst my boyfriend had a classic Greek chicken gyros. Ahhhh, if only we could enjoy every lunch like this!

Soon the sun was setting on our final day in Dubai and the city skyline twinkled in the night.

There’s nothing like a barmy beach club day and a real must for anyone visiting Dubai. My top recommendations are of course KoKo Bay and Ula, as well as Drift, Five, Address Beach Resort and Twiggy. I just love those beach bum blues and that salty skin feeling ❤

LUSH Event; Seasons Surrey

Seasons Kitchen, Farm Shop & Street Food at Lavershot Barns, brings together fabulous food and drink all wrapped up in one unique experience. From organic, locally sourced produce used to create the Restaurant and Street Food menus, to the bespoke designers from Lush Landscapes and on site florist at Lilys Flowers, Seasons Surrey is your one-stop weekend destination to unwind, shop and dine in style.

With an invite to a private event hosted this Friday by Lush Landscapes, I was lucky enough to experience Surrey’s latest hotspot for an after work cocktail accompanied with some delicious street food too. Kicking off with a glass of bubbly, we explored the gorgeous grounds designed by the team at Lush Landscapes; how idealic to sit in front of this chic fire pit with a glass of prosecco as the sun went down over the farm.

As the saxophone played into the evening, we took our seats at our table and ordered some street food from the extensive menu inspired by worldwide cuisine. From a healthy Chinese dragon rice bowl, to a German hotdog and Greek lamb flatbread, there was something for everyone. I opted for the plant based American style burger with fries – a classic which certainly didn’t disappoint.

Once the sun went down, the Ministry of Sound DJ took to the decks and I was feeling those Ibiza vibes as we sipped our cocktails amongst such gorgeous surroundings. I’m already planning our next trip to Seasons Surrey to browse some special treats in the Farm Shop and of course sample their Michelin star Restaurant.

Friday Feels; All Black Everything

As I get back into the swing of full-time work again and we can finally socialise once more, I was truly feeling those Friday high vibes as my second week back to work came to a close.

No messing about, I was at the pub by 6pm with a drink in hand and ready for an overdue catchup with my girls. The place was buzzing and it was amazing to get a taste of normal life again!

I opted to go back to black for my Friday night look. Simple, classic and sexy, you just can’t go wrong in all black everything.

A few hours later and a couple glasses of wine down, it was time to go for dinner with my boyfriend. We went to another one of our favourite pubs ‘The Crown and Cushion’, funnily enough the last place we ate out at during Christmas before this lockdown!

This pub does my boyfriend’s favourite ribs in the area, so it was a must to visit as soon as restaurant dining opened back up. I got a chicken caesar salad and sweet potato fries accompanied with more vino of course…

Then to finish I simply couldn’t resist my guilty pleasure, an Espresso Martini. Coffee, sugar and alcohol all in one, I really have missed the dark temptation of my favourite night-cap. Bring on the Friyay feels ❤

All About Audrey

Needless to say, Miss Hepburn is the epitome of timeless style, grace and beauty. I became infatuated with Audrey Hepburn’s captivating screen presence when I first watched her running around New York in one of her most famous roles as Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Only Audrey could depict an otherwise frivolous, superficial character with such charismatic charm.

Having collected numerous coffee table books and reading up about her childhood and background, I’ve become obsessed in the humble story of Audrey Hepburn. From deprived war child to Hollywood icon of the century, her journey to stardom was not an easy road, but certainly proof of her unique talent and enchanting demure.

Her catalogue of blockbuster movies is extensive and in each film she never fails to bring with her that Hepburn sparkle. No wonder she was picked out back in her early career on stage as the ‘chorus girl with the eyes’.

A new Friday evening tradition has been to sit down with my mum and watch a different Audrey Hepburn movie each week, accompanied with a glass of wine or G&T to see in the weekend of course 😉 In fact a few years ago we had a glorious day in London together attending the Audrey Hepburn: Portraits of an Icon exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, I was in my element!

Week one of our marathon we began with the classic Breakfast At Tiffany‘s, followed by Roman Holiday and last Friday Sabrina. With each movie comes a fabulous array of outfits as Hepburn found herself collaborating with world famous designers throughout her career, in particular the French designer Givenchy. This show stopping gown worn as Sabrina is a personal favourite of mine – isn’t it just breath-taking!?

Away from the screen Hepburn dressed a little more casual, but nevertheless maintaining that effortless class and elegance. She was the trend-setter for timeless fashion and she remains a style icon to this day.

I love recreating her off-duty minimalistic, but equally chic looks. So in honour of this Friday’s movie I went all Audrey in a pair of cropped cargo pants, an oversized tied shirt to accentuate the feminine silhouette, little neckerchief scarf and a pair of mules. Simple yet classy and always stylish.

Miss Hepburn will forever and always be my icon for all that she achieved and gave back to the world with her movies, fashion and even her devotion to UNICEF in later life; a true to testament to her beautiful soul beyond that pretty face, she certainly was an angel ❤

Dani’s Daily Edit; My Passion Project

I’ve always been a busy bee and found it hard to not be doing something that gets my brain working, those creative juices flowing, or my body active and exerted physically. Even as a kid I remember asking my older sister to set me tasks and activities (often related to animals at this stage in life), then into my teenage years I would love scrapbooking and collecting magazine cutouts to make collages and inspire my fashion designs.

Later in life my focus became dancing and performing, a passion which kept me occupied every evening after school and took me on to train professionally in my degree at dance college in London. Inevitably I saw lockdown as an opportunity to get my teeth stuck into some new projects, the initial one being my YouTube fitness channel back in the summer. Now we find ourselves in lockdown 3.0 and with the new year upon us, so I decided to launch a fresh Instagram page devoted to my love for all things style and fashion – @danisdailyedit

With my wonderful wardrobe which I’ve fondly built and curated over the years, I thought it was time to show my clothes some love and embark on this fun little project. Not to mention we have nowhere to flaunt our newest garments at the moment, so its also a great excuse to get dressed up everyday and not hold back from experimentation out of my comfort zone.

I enjoy styling my pieces in different ways and revamping the old with the new as we continue to see trends come back around. Take this old tartan fleece skirt I had from years ago, worn simply with a modern square neck top, sheer tights and boot heels, this look channels that 90s chic yet minimalist style.

I continue to seek inspiration from magazines, blogs, Pinterest and Instagram as well as iconic film characters. After watching the new Wonder Woman 1984 movie, I was in awe of Diana Prince’s spin on 80s fashion. From an era of power dressing and bold silhouettes, Wonder Woman herself shows us how its done with tailored flares and collared shirt layered with a belted waistcoat and oversized blazer. Hair slicked back, sleeves rolled up, hands in pockets; we know this woman means business! I too certainly felt the power when recreating this killer look.

Of course there are times when I prefer to keep things a little more casual and comfier for those days spent at home and running errands. You can never go wrong with a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans paired with a baseball jumper, sneakers and a classic cap – ideal for bad hair days 😉

I tend to keep my look simple yet cool and chic. Quality jeans in a few different fits are a must in my wardrobe as I feel most comfortable in trousers. However a basic maxi skirt or dress is also essential for achieving cool girl vibes with minimal effort, but maximum comfort.

I should note at this point that yes, I do own far too many clothes and perhaps it’s time to streamline my staple pieces using a capsule wardrobe approach. I do admit though, I find this very tricky as I’ve collected some of my most unique items from various resources such as when I lived in Australia, numerous holidays abroad or vintage markets in London. I like my pieces to have a story to tell and bring me the joy of when I first purchased or got gifted them.

Alongside the fashion I’ve also been inserting snippets of my jewellery, accessories and interiors on the daily edit. I want my aesthetic to reflect my creative mind influenced by the eclectic, exciting life I’ve led so far. This is where style and fashion prove themselves as separate entities; fashion is for a time, style is for life.

I believe each day we put together an outfit, we almost embody a new persona depending on the fit, shape, length, material, colour etc. Whilst I’m more likely to choose my default ripped skinny jeans and chunky boots with a tee layered under an oversized shirt, I like to mix it up and feel a bit more feminine occasionally too, in a cute dress or fitted cigarette pants and smart blazer.

It’s always super exciting and motivating to get started on something new, I can barely help myself thinking of the next outfit post. I like a challenge and this definitely keeps me on my toes as I aim to post every single day, even if I am just wearing sweats and a hoody or workout gear!

Dani’s Daily Edit may be young, but I like to think this little passion project is an expression of my past and present self in the language of fashion.
